Dp4™ Microneedling

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. A revolutionary cosmetic procedure aimed at rejuvenating your skin. Effectively addressing common issues such as ageing, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, uneven skin texture, stretch marks, scaring, and alopecia. It stimulates natural collagen and elastin formation, resulting in a visibly improved complexion. 

Microneedling works by creating controlled micro-injuries to the skin. These micro-injuries create micro-channels which allow topical solutions to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects into deeper layers. To enhance results with the Dp4™ Microneeding system, Dp Dermaceuticals are used. Dp Dermaceuticals are a specialized skincare line developed explicitly for microneedling. 

Your provider will take all steps to ensure total comfort during your Dp4™ Microneedling procedure. If at any point you feel discomfort, please inform your practitioner immediately. 

Based on your areas of concern a series of treatments are recommended in conjunction with Dp Dermaceutical home care products for optimal results and maintenance. In general, most people will need more than one treatment, a series between 4-8 sessions spaced 3-6 weeks apart could be recommended for optimal results. Depending on your skin concern, your practitioner will recommend what's best.

Dp4™ treatments are fast, effective, comfortable and offer visual results after just one session. Substantial improvements become more apparent in the days and weeks following the treatment, following the aftercare protocol, and following the series recommendations. 

Yes! Dp4™ Microneeding is considered suitable for all skin types. A consultation is recommended to assess specific skin concerns and to be able to customize the treatment accordingly. 

Absolutely! The Dp4™ Microneedling system can be easily adjusted to allow your practitioner the ability to customize the settings to the areas of sensitivity.

Yes, Dp4™ Microneedling can be combined with other aesthetic treatments. Your practitioner will be able to asses and recommend suitable combinations based on your needs and desired outcome.

Absolutely, however, if you are planning on being in the sun or visiting a sunny destination, proper precautions must be adhered to. If you are not able to limit your sun exposure, it is then best to complete the Dp4™ Microneedling treatment series during the Autumn, Winter and early Spring months. 

Microneedling cannot be preformed when there are open wounds, skin infections, excessive active acne, rosacea, or other inflammatory conditions. Also, if you have any allergies to the ingredients used during the treatment or to topical lidocaine as numbing is necessary to relief discomfort. 

Certain health conditions, medications, supplements and lifestyle factors may also affect a Dp4™ procedure. 

If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend taking an oral antiviral medication such as Valtrex the day prior to your procedure to help prevent a flare-up. Please contact your family doctor for a prescription.

To help achieve better results, while minimizing any side effects or adverse effects, it is recommended to prepare and prime your skin for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment with Dp Dermaceuticals. Your practitioner will prescribe a customized skincare regimen prior to the treatment. 

It is important to protect and provide extra special care for your skin for at least 3-4 days following a Dp4™ procedure. 

Please avoid the following activities for up to 2 days following a Dp4™ treatment:

• Direct ultra-violet exposure (sun and solariums/sun beds)
• Intensive cardio, exercise or gymnasium regimens
• Excessively hot showers, bathing, spas or saunas
• Further aesthetic treatments (including, but not limited to, microdermabrasion, laser, intense pulsed light, chemical peels, muscle relaxant injections and dermal fillers)
• Spray or self-tanning
• Swimming in chlorinated pools or in the ocean
• Tattooing (including cosmetic tattooing)

Please avoid the use of skin care products containing any of the following active resurfacing ingredients for up to 5 days following a Dp4™ treatment:

• Mechanical exfoliants (scrubs)
• Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) (including, but not limited to, glycolic, lactic or manic acid)
• Beta hydroxy acid (BHA) including salicylic acid
• Benzoyl peroxide
• Retinoids (inculding, but not limited to, tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene and retinol)
• Hydroquinone
• Bleaching agents
• Alcohol (including, but not limited to, isopropyl alcohol/de-natured alcohol/rubbing alcohol)

As with any aesthetic procedure, there are possible (but rare) risks or complications. Including, but not limited to:

• Skin damage
• Bruising
• Infection
• Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
• Cold sore flare up
• Persistant redness (more possible in people with rosacea)
• Swelling or edema
• Track marks
• Scarring (very rare)

If you are experiencing any of the following conditions or concerns, on or around the treatment area, you will need to let your practitioner know prior to treatment:

• Active Psoriasis
• Active Herpes simplex (cold sores)
• Scleroderma
• Open lesions
• Skin cancer
• Undiagnosed/unusual moles
• Active lupus erythematosus
• Active collagen vascular disease
• Acne vulgaris stage IV
• Warts
• Bacterial/fungal infections
• Undiagnosed solar keratosis
• Haemophilia (or other blood clotting disorders)
• Active vitiligo
• History of keloid scars

Also, inform your practitioner if you are (or planning to get) pregnant, have any cosmetic tattooing, have recently experienced and chronic illness or are undergoing major medical care. 

We recommend waiting 2+ weeks before and 2+ days after Dp4 microneedling to have muscle relaxers or dermal fillers done. 

The duration of a Dp4™ Microneedling treatment varies, but typically, it can be between 30-60 minutes. This will all depend on the areas being treated, the specific skin concerns being addressed, and whether or not a numbing cream is being used. 

During the healing process you may experience temporary side effects such as, minor itching, hives, some flaking, redness, pain or tenderness at the treatment site.This typically can last a few hours, with vast improvements showing in the following days and weeks ahead. Mineral makeup application, if wanted, is permissible after 8 hours using minimal application pressure.

The Dp4™ Microneedling system meets Health Canada standards, ensuring safety and efficacy. It only uses sterile, single-use consumables throughout the procedure, and is therefore considered safe when performed by a trained and experienced practitioner.
